Rainy Day Spiked Hazelnut Hot Chocolate


Los Angeles, California just received a week of unexpected but welcomed rain.  This past week rainy, adding a much needed swell to California's reservoir drought.  Although many of us welcomed the huge storm, others were dreading it.  It may have caused delays in traffic, problems on the job, or an all around bad mood.  Let's face it.  Some people do not like rain and it leaves them feeling frustrated. 
This read will hopefully share a delightful way to either perk up those rainy seasons or relax your anxiety.  We often find articles regarding food and wine pairings, but what about dessert and beverage pairings?
Sugar cookies and pound cake are both excellent perks when pairing them with alcoholic beverages.  Here you will find a delightful twist to a traditional pairing of cookies and hot chocolate.

Spiked Hazelnut Hot Chocolate
2 cups of almond milk
4 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon of almond extract
3 tablespoons of sugar
1/2 cup of Vanilla Vodka
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg

Bring the milk to a boil over medium heat. Whisk in the cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla vodka, nutmeg and almond extract until completely smooth.  Garnish wi.th whipped cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg
*makes 3-4 cups
